Delta Paper Mill donates Flora-branded products to birth mothers at Tema General Hospital

Delta Paper Mill Ltd donated a package of its Flora range of products to birth mothers at the Maternity Block of Tema General Hospital in commemoration of Mothers’ Day 2021. In total 120 special gift packages were distributed to patients (and staff) at wards in the hospital’s Maternity Block.

Ms. Barbara Incoom, Head of Marketing of Delta Paper Mill Ltd described the donation as part of Flora Care, a recently launched CSR project of Delta Paper Mill, which seeks to give back to the community where the company operates. Ms. Incoom noted that Delta Paper Mill is committed to impacting more lives through its CSR programs and will honor its promise by accomplishing even bigger projects.

The Midwifery Officer in charge of Maternity Block of Tema General Hospital Ms. Stella Sefa commended Delta Paper for the initiative and pledged to continue collaborating with stakeholders to improve maternal health in the Tema community.

Ms. Sefa identified non-payment of bills by birth mothers because of unaffordability as a major challenge the hospital faces currently. Ms. Sefa explained that hospital management is often left with the only option of keeping defaulting patients for days after birth, a situation that causes congestion and discomfort in the wards. She appealed to philanthropists and benevolent organizations to support maternal healthcare in public hospitals to help address the issue of detained birth mothers.
